GREENVILLE, N.C. - After a very successful three-game road swing, the East Carolina women's soccer team will return home to host Davidson at 7 p.m., on Friday night at Johnson Stadium.
The Pirates will be at home for seven of its next nine games, including Sunday when Elon comes to town for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
On Friday, the first 100 fans will receive a free pair of ECU sunglasses. It is also ECU International Students Day, where International students along with the First Friends program have been invited to attend the match.
VERSUS DAVIDSON
East Carolina is 5-0 all-time against Davidson and has defeated the Wildcats each of the last three seasons by a combined score of 7-1. Last season, the Pirates picked up a 2-0 win at Davidson in their season opener, giving head coach Rob Donnenwirth his 200th-career victory.
SHUTOUT STREAK
ECU capped a successful three-game road trip which included a trio of shutouts at Western Carolina (8/24), George Mason (8/29) and Francis Marion (9/1). The last time the Pirates won three-straight road games without allowing a goal was during the 2008 season when they came out on top at Rice (2-0), Houston (1-0) and Southern Miss (2-0) en route to a 14-4-1 overall record and a share of the Conference USA regular season title.
BARON'S BARREN NET
Redshirt junior goalkeeper Saundra Baron recorded three-straight shutouts in road wins at Western Carolina (8/24), George Mason (8/29) and Francis Marion (9/1). She became the first goalkeeper since Amber Campbell in 2008 to accomplish the feat.
GOALS GALORE
East Carolina scored six goals, including five in the second half, in its win at Francis Marion on Sept. 1, The half-dozen tallies were the most in a single game by a Pirate squad since it scored the same number against the Patriots during the 2005 campaign.
FREY FIRING AWAY
Junior forward and 2013 all-conference choice Kendall Frey took three shots and scored a goal in each game of ECU's back-to-back wins at George Mason (8/31) and Francis Marion (9/1). Last season, Frey scored five goals in a six-game span, capped by a golden goal in a 1-0 win over UTEP in the quarterfinals of the Conference USA Tournament.
SO FARY, SO GOOD
Freshman striker Brittany Fary has started each of the team's first four matches in 2014. The Centreville, Va., native has been a boost to the offensive attack and scored her first-career goal in the 6-0 win at Francis Marion on Sept. 1
GAME-WINNING GEIST
Sophomore midfielder Jenna Geist scored her first-collegiate game-winning goal on a header off a Stephanie Seagrave cross in the 57th minute of ECU's 1-0 road win at Western Carolina on Aug. 24. The goal was Geist's second of her career.
HITE EXPECTATIONS
Sophomore defender Caitlin Hite was one of 11 players named to the Preseason All-American Athletic Conference Team. In 2013, she became the first freshman in program history to earn all-conference first-team recognition in addition to being listed on the all-freshman team.
ROSTER MAKEUP
The Pirates return 21 players from last year's squad that posted a 9-9-3 overall record and reached the semifinals of the Conference USA Tournament in its final year as a member of the league. East Carolina graduated six players from 2013, but welcomed 11 new Pirates for the 2014 season.
