ECU Earns Four Seed in American Conference Tournament

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Following the conclusion of the regular-season Sunday afternoon, the American Athletic Conference announced the seeding for the Softball Championships which will begin Thursday, May 7 and concludes Saturday, May 9. East Carolina earned a No. 4 seed in the upcoming tournament, while No. 15/16 UCF, the tournament host, claimed the No. 1 seed.
All of Thursday's quarterfinal games and both of Friday's semifinal games of the championship will be carried live on The American Digital Network. Saturday's final will be televised live on ESPN2 at 1 p.m. (ET). The winner of the tournament will earn The American's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
UCF, which won 11 of its last 12 conference games to close out the regular-season finished with a four-game lead on second-place Tulsa in the final standings en route to the No. 1 seed. The Knights (46-7) earned a bye into the semifinals and will face the winner of the No. 4 East Carolina (16-36) and No. 5 USF (35-19) game at 5:30 p.m. (ET) on Friday in the second of the two semifinal games.
The single-elimination championship begins at 11 a.m. Thursday with a quarterfinal matchup between No. 3 seeded Houston (27-26) and No. 6 seeded Memphis (19-33).
No. 2 seed Tulsa (34-17) will face No. 7 seed UConn (18-34) at 1:30 p.m. (ET) on Thursday in the quarterfinals.
The final quarterfinals pairing have the Pirates taking on the Bulls at 4 p.m. (ET) on Thursday. During the regular-season, the teams split a doubleheader on April 18, before ECU won the series with a 7-3 rubber game victory.
