Denton, Texas – East Carolina hits the road to continue American Conference play as the Pirates visit North Texas for a three-game series.
The series gets started on Friday at 7 p.m. ET and all three games will be streamed via ESPN+ with Chris Mycoskie (play-by-play) and Maria Trivelpiece (analyst) calling Friday and Saturday's games and James Trietley (play-by-play) calling Sunday's series finale alongside Trivelpiece.
ECU is coming off a tough, nine-inning loss to NC State on Tuesday and a series win last weekend over conference rival Charlotte. Kanisha Anderson (.390) comes off a strong week at the plate in which she batted .667 and recorded eight hits to earn American Conference Honorable Mention and has recorded a hit in 17 consecutive games. Trinity Nichols (.339) and Anna Sawyer (.306) join Anderson as players batting above .300 on the team. Julia Apostolakos (3.26 ERA, 76 Ks) and Sydney Rainford (3.41 ERA, 46 Ks) lead the Pirates in the circle. Apostolakos recorded a complete game shut out win in the series finale against Charlotte.
Scouting the Mean Green
The Mean Green come into the weekend on a two-game skid, recently losing at Tarleton State on Wednesday, 6-1. Elizabeth Moffitt and Madison Conley are the team's top two offensive threats with 10 and 13 home runs on the year respectively. Britney Lewinski (4.75 ERA, 112.0 IP) and Anneca Anderson (4.76 ERA, 107.1 IP) lead the Mean Green's pitching staff.
Series History
North Texas leads the all-time series with East Carolina 4-3 but the Pirates have won the last three meetings after sweeping the Mean Green at home last year to close out the regular season. In the previous season, North Texas swept the regular season series in Denton and run-ruled the Pirates at the conference tournament. ECU is 0-3 all-time at North Texas.
