
Spang Closes Season With 73 At NCAA Regional

RALEIGH, N.C. - East Carolina junior Frida Gustafsson Spang closed out the 2015 season taking a share of 35th place at the NCAA Women's Golf Raleigh Regional Saturday afternoon, which was being held at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
Spang, who is the third Pirate individual to participate in NCAA Regional play, carded a final round 1-over par 73 for a three-day tournament scored of 226 (10-over). The Kinna, Sweden native collected 15 pars, one birdie (No. 17) and two bogeys (No. 1 and No. 11) on the afternoon moving up 15 spots in the standings.
South Carolina (877/13-over) claimed top regional honors posting a final round 291 to advance to the NCAA Women's Golf Championship, which will be held May 22-27 at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla. Also advancing to the championships are Northwestern (885/21-over), NC State (887/23-over), LSU (888/24-over), Alabama (888/24-over) and Campbell (892/28-over).
Individually, Lena Shaeffner (Coastal Carolina), Taylor Totland (Furman) and Karolina Vickova (Florida) also advance to the NCAA Championships.
