GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina women's soccer team will play five of its next six matches on the road and opens up a four-game road trip that begins in Williamsburg, Va., against William & Mary on Friday, Aug. 28 at Martin Stadium. Opening kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
ECU played to a scoreless draw against Loyola-Chicago in its second home game of the season on Sunday, Aug. 23, despite outshooting the Ramblers 18-7 overall and 12-2 in shots on goal. The shutout made it 2-for-2 on the year for the Pirates, who topped George Mason, 2-0, just two days prior.
SCOUTING WILLIAM & MARY
The Tribe is coming off an impressive opening weekend after cruising to a 5-1 victory over Seton Hall in their season opener at the JMU Invite in Harrisonburg, Va., on Friday, before taking down 25th-ranked Georgetown, 3-0, on Sunday. William & Mary is also receiving votes in the first NSCAA Division I poll of the season. Samantha Cordum leads the team with five points on two goals and one assist, while Sami Grossi and Rachel Moore also have two goals apiece.
SERIES HISTORY
The Pirates trail the Tribe, 1-7-1, in the all-time series, but are 1-0-1 in the last two meetings. East Carolina and William& Mary last met September 11, 2011 in Greenville where the two clubs played to a 2-2 draw through two overtimes. The last time they faced off in Williamsburg was September of 2010, as the Pirates escaped with a 2-1 triumph. The first seven matchups came during the infancy of ECU's women's soccer program from 1995-2000.

Redshirt senior Saundra Baron was named the first American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper-of-the-Week for the 2015 season on Aug. 24 after posting back-to-back shutouts against George Mason and Loyola-Chicago. She made six saves across 200 scoreless minutes to help the Pirates to a 1-0-1 record.

Redshirt senior and starting goalkeeper Saundra Baron has recorded eight shutouts in her last 10 starts dating back to the 2014 season.
TAKING QUALITY SHOTS
ECU has been extremely efficient with its shooting through its first two matches this season, with its shots on goal percentage after putting 19 of 31 (.613) shots on goal. Senior Kendall Frey has put eight of her 10 attempts on net, while junior Lana Spitler is 6-for-9, including a 5-for-5 performance against Loyola-Chicago on Aug. 23.
AN UNFORTUNATE DOZEN
East Carolina had 12 of its shots saved by Loyola-Chicago goalkeeper Maddie Ford on Aug. 23, marking the first time an opposing goalkeeper has made 12 saves against the Pirate offense since Francis Marion during the 2005 season
FRESHMEN FITTING IN
Three Pirate freshmen, defender Lindsey Tornabene, forward Courtney Cash and defender Madeleine Watson have seen significant minutes early on this season. Tornabene has started and played every minute in each match thus far, while Cash and Watson have played big minutes as substitutes.
