GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina freshman women's soccer player Courtney Cash has been named the American Athletic Conference Rookie-of-the-Week, according to an announcement by the league office Monday afternoon.
Cash scored her first collegiate goal in game-winning fashion, netting the lone score in the 107th minute of the Pirates' 1-0 double overtime victory over Western Carolina last Friday night. The forward followed up that performance with three shots in a season-high 73 minutes played in the 3-2 double overtime win at Charlotte on Sunday.
A Cary, N.C., native, Cash has appeared in all eight matches for ECU so far in 2015 and is one of just two freshmen to do that, along with defender Madeleine Watson.
East Carolina returns to action Thursday, Sept. 17 to host UNC Wilmington in a non-conference tilt. Opening kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m., at Johnson Soccer Stadium.
