GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina women's soccer team will begin its 2015 American Athletic Conference slate at Houston on Thursday, Sept. 24. Opening kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
Junior forward Lana Spitler scored her fifth goal of the season in the 59th minute as East Carolina defeated Old Dominion, 1-0, in its non-conference finale. Redshirt senior goalkeeper Saundra Baron made five saves in her fifth shutout of the season.
ALL-TIME VERSUS HOUSTON
The Pirates are 10-2 all-time against the Cougars and have won each of the last four meetings by a combined score of 9-1. The last time ECU traveled to Houston, the purple and gold escaped with a 3-0 victory during the 2012 campaign - the last meeting between the two clubs as members of Conference USA.
SCOUTING THE COUGARS
Houston (4-4) enters Thursday's match winners in three-straight and four of its last five contests. The Cougars own a 4-1 record on their home field and are led by senior Lexa Green, sophomore Selena Peters and freshman Desiree Bowen who each have three goals apiece on the season.
SPITLER, BARON EARN WEEKLY HONORABLE MENTIONS
Lana Spitler and Saundra Baron were named to the American Athletic Conference's weekly honor roll on Monday, Sept. 21. Spitler netted the game-winning goal in the 53rd minute of Sunday's 1-0 win over Old Dominion, while Baron made five saves in her fifth shutout of the year.
CASH REGISTERS AAC ROOKIE HONOR
Freshman forward Courtney Cash was named American Athletic Conference Rookie-of-the-Week after scoring her first collegiate goal in game-winning fashion, netting the lone score in the 107th minute of the Pirates' 1-0 double overtime victory over Western Carolina on Sept. 11.
SEAGRAVE SEALS IT
Fifth-year senior Stephanie Seagrave scored a golden goal in the 110th minute of a 3-2 double overtime win at Charlotte on Sept. 13. The score was Seagrave's second of the season and eighth of her career, yet just her first game-winning strike in her 57th-collegiate match.
DOUBLE OT HISTORY
East Carolina won back-to-back double overtime games against Western Carolina and Charlotte on Sept. 11 and 13, marking the first time the Pirates accomplished the feat since Oct. 22 and 24 at Cincinnati and Louisville in 2004. The last time ECU won two double overtime matches in a season was 2008.
BARON'S BARREN NET
Redshirt senior goalkeeper has recorded five shutouts in ECU's first 10 matches this season. The Greensboro, N.C., native has blanked opponents in 10 in her last 16 starts dating back to 2014.
AAC GOALKEEPER-OF-THE-WEEK
Redshirt senior Saundra Baron was named the first American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper-of-the-Week for the 2015 season on Aug. 24 after posting back-to-back shutouts against George Mason and Loyola-Chicago. She made six saves across 200 scoreless minutes to help the Pirates to a 1-0-1 record.

East Carolina women's soccer is just five victories shy of 200 in its history. Since the inception of the program in 1994, the Pirates have averaged greater than nine victories per season.
SEASON OF SHUTOUTS - THE SEQUEL?
ECU posted 11 shutouts in 2014, which tied the 2007 team for the most in a single season in school history, and the Pirates have five in their first 10 games in 2015.
