East Carolina Hosts UCF Thursday Night

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina women's soccer team will host UCF in its first American Athletic Conference home match of the season on Thursday, Oct. 1. Opening kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m., at Johnson Soccer Stadium.
PROMOTIONS
The first 100 fans will receive a free ECU Soccer scarf.
Student Pirate Club: SPC will be giving away a tailgate spot for one remaining home football game during the match.
Halftime Greek Challenge: Representatives from various Greek organizations will have chances to shoot goals from designated areas on the field.
LAST TIME OUT
East Carolina (6-5-1, 1-1-0 AAC) split its first weekend of conference play with a 2-0 win at Houston, followed by a stunning 2-1 setback at SMU. Senior Kendall Frey recorded her second-career multi-goal game and senior goalkeeper Saundra Baron recorded her league-leading sixth shutout against the Cougars, while junior defender Caitlin Hite tied up the game with her first goal of the season against the Mustangs. SMU scored with 27 seconds remaining in regulation to escape with the victory.
ALL-TIME VERSUS UCF
The Knights leads the Pirates, 9-1-2, in the all-time series, with ECU's lone victory coming in the 2011 Conference USA Tournament. In what will be the 13th meeting overall between the programs, it will be just the fourth time UCF has played in Greenville.
SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS
UCF (6-3-1, 1-1-0 AAC) enters Thursday's match coming off an opening weekend conference split of its own at home, including a 1-0 win over Temple and a 3-2 loss to 20th-ranked UConn. The Knights are led by Ashley Spivey's team-leading six goals, 33 shots and 18 shots on goal, as well as Carol Rodrigues' five goals and two assists. Saga Fredriksson leads the club with three assists.
COUNTING DOWN
East Carolina women's soccer is just four victories shy of 200 in its history. Since the inception of the program in 1994, the Pirates have averaged greater than nine victories per season.
BARON'S BARREN NET
Redshirt senior goalkeeper has recorded six shutouts in ECU's first 12 matches this season. The Greensboro, N.C., native has blanked opponents in 11 in her last 18 starts dating back to 2014. Her six scoreless outings lead all American Athletic Conference goalkeepers.
SEASON OF SHUTOUTS - THE SEQUEL?
ECU posted 11 shutouts in 2014, which tied the 2007 team for the most in a single season in school history, and the Pirates have six in their first 12 games in 2015.
SPITLER, BARON EARN WEEKLY HONORABLE MENTIONS
Lana Spitler and Saundra Baron were named to the American Athletic Conference's weekly honor roll on Monday, Sept. 21. Spitler netted the game-winning goal in the 53rd minute of Sunday's 1-0 win over Old Dominion, while Baron made five saves in her fifth shutout of the year.
CASH REGISTERS AAC ROOKIE HONOR
Freshman forward Courtney Cash was named American Athletic Conference Rookie-of-the-Week after scoring her first collegiate goal in game-winning fashion, netting the lone score in the 107th minute of the Pirates' 1-0 double overtime victory over Western Carolina on Sept. 11.
SEAGRAVE SEALS IT
Fifth-year senior Stephanie Seagrave scored a golden goal in the 110th minute of a 3-2 double overtime win at Charlotte on Sept. 13. The score was Seagrave's second of the season and eighth of her career, yet just her first game-winning strike in her 57th-collegiate match.
DOUBLE OT HISTORY
East Carolina won back-to-back double overtime games against Western Carolina and Charlotte on Sept. 11 and 13, marking the first time the Pirates accomplished the feat since Oct. 22 and 24 at Cincinnati and Louisville in 2004. The last time ECU won two double overtime matches in a season was 2008.
