GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina women's soccer team will travel to Greensboro, N.C., on Sunday, Sept. 6 for an in-state, non-conference tilt against UNC Greensboro. Opening kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
ECU suffered its third straight road loss in a 1-0 decision at James Madison on Friday evening. The Pirates surrendered a 51st minute goal and were outshot, 15-6, by the Dukes in the match.
ALL-TIME VERSUS UNC GREENSBORO
The Pirates and Spartans will meet for the third year in a row and fourth time overall, ECU trails in the all-time series, 2-1. East Carolina defeated UNCG on its home field last season, 1-0, on a 69th minute goal by Lexi Herring.
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
UNCG enters Sunday's match with a 1-4 overall mark and is coming off a 2-0 road loss at 10th-ranked Virginia Tech on Friday. The Spartans are led by Candice Forbes and Zoe Fishman who each have three points apiece (one goal and one assist).
TOUGH STRETCH
East Carolina is going through what might be the most rigorous portion of its 2015 schedule, a stretch of four-straight non-conference road matches. In all, five of six games will be away from Johnson Stadium during the tough slate.
AAC GOALKEEPER-OF-THE-WEEK
Redshirt senior Saundra Baron was named the first American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper-of-the-Week for the 2015 season on Aug. 24 after posting back-to-back shutouts against George Mason and Loyola-Chicago. She made six saves across 200 scoreless minutes to help the Pirates to a 1-0-1 record.
AN UNFORTUNATE DOZEN
East Carolina had 12 of its shots saved by Loyola-Chicago goalkeeper Maddie Ford on Aug. 23, marking the first time an opposing goalkeeper has made 12 saves against the Pirate offense since Francis Marion during the 2005 season.
FRESHMEN FITTING IN
Three Pirate freshmen, defender Lindsey Tornabene, forward Courtney Cash and defender Madeleine Watson have seen significant minutes early on this season. Tornabene has started and played every minute in each match thus far, while Cash and Watson have played big minutes as substitutes.
COUNTING DOWN
East Carolina women's soccer begins the 2015 season just nine victories shy of 200 in its history. Since the inception of the program in 1994, the Pirates have averaged greater than nine victories per season.
