ORLANDO - The East Carolina women's soccer team could not hold on to an early lead and suffered a 3-2 double-overtime loss at UCF in American Athletic Conference action Sunday afternoon.
Senior striker Lana Spitler assisted on both Pirate goals, while sophomore forward Courtney Cash and freshman midfielder Marianna Shurina scored once apiece.
The Knights owned a 23-14 advantage in total shots along with an 11-6 lead in attempts on-goal, while ECU owned a 7-5 edge in corner kicks.

54th Minute: UCF (8-7-1, 3-3-1 AAC) got on the scoreboard just over nine minutes into the second half when Caroline Brado touched a pass to Cortney O'Connell who ripped a shot past Caroline Jeffers to tie the match at one-all.
54th Minute: The Knights quickly forced the Pirates into a turnover after the ensuing kickoff, as Carol Rodrigues collected a loose ball and scored UCF's second goal in just 28 seconds to put the home team in front, 2-1.
66th Minute: Just over 11 minutes after UCF claimed its first lead of the match, Spitler drew in several defenders before sending a pass to a wide open Shurina, who kicked a shot past goalkeeper Vera Varis to tie the match, 2-2.
101st Minute: Following a scoreless 10-minute overtime period, the Knights cleared an ECU attack and dumped a ball into the Pirates' territory.
