ALL-TIME VERSUS TEMPLE
East Carolina (4-11-1, 0-6-1 AAC) will meet the Owls for the third time overall and owns a 1-0-1 record in the last two matchups. In 2014, ECU earned a 2-0 home win, while last season's contest in Philadelphia resulted in a scoreless draw after two overtimes.
SCOUTING THE OWLS
Temple (3-14, 0-7 AAC) enters Thursday's contest in last place in the conference standings and has lost 12 of its last 13 matches while riding an eight-game losing streak. The Owls are led by Gabriella McKeown's eight points on three goals and two assists, while three other teammates have two goals apiece.
EXTRA TIME
ECU has played three-consecutive overtime matches, which is the longest streak in program history. The Pirates tied Houston, 1-1, on Oct. 16 before dropping a 2-1 overtime decision at USF on Oct. 20 and a 3-2 double-overtime contest at UCF on Oct. 23.
FIRING THE CANNONS
ECU registered season-highs in total shots (25) and shots on goal (12) in a 1-1 draw against Houston on Oct. 16. The 25 shots were also the most in a single game since taking 28 attempts at Charlotte on Sept. 13, 2015, while the 12 shots on goal marked the third time this season the Pirates reached double-figures in that category this season (10 at Tulsa and 11 at Western Carolina).
THE LONGEST HIATUS
The Pirates went 12 days (Sept. 18-Sept. 30) between home games against UNC Greensboro and Cincinnati, which is the second-longest span of time between games in the program's 22-year history. The previous long was 17 days during the 1999 campaign due to the effects of Hurricane Floyd.Â
1. 17 days (Sept. 12-Sept. 29, 1999)
2. 12 days (Sept. 18-Sept. 30, 2016)
3. 11 days (August 27-Sept. 7, 2008)
4. 10 days (Oct. 3-13, 2002)
SPITLER STRIKES TWICE, TWICE
Senior striker Lana Spitler has scored two goals in the same contest on two occasions thus far in 2016. She accomplished the feat in a career-high five-point effort against Charlotte (9/11), as well as in a 4-0 rout of Western Carolina (8/28). She now has four-career multi-goal efforts as she also scored twice at UNC Greensboro (9/6/15) and at home against Temple (9/28/14).
SPITLER CLIMBING ALL-TIME SCORING LIST
Spitler's two goals against Charlotte on Sept. 11 were her fifth and six of the season and the 20th and 21st of her collegiate career, moving her into a tie for fifth place with Kendall Frey (2012-15) on ECU's all-time goals list.
