
Men's Tennis Suffers 5-2 Setback at Old Dominion

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina men's tennis team won the doubles point, but dropped its second match in a row in a 5-2 defeat at Old Dominion on Friday.
The Pirates got off on the right foot in doubles play, as Vlad Anghel and Fredric Lehfeldt cruised to a 6-2 win over Michael Weindl and Jacob Nicolussi on court two. The duo improved to 5-2 on the season with all of those matches coming at the No. 2 spot in the lineup.
Tendai Tapfuma and James Ling sealed the first point of the match by holding on for a 7-5 victory over Adam Moundir and Aziz Kijametovic on court one for the tandem's third-straight win and gave ECU a 1-0 lead in the overall match.
The Monarchs would take control in singles play with five-consecutive wins on courts one, two, three, five and six - all of which were completes in straight sets. Sophomore Kasey Countee collected East Carolina's (6-3) lone singles victory, 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, over Javier Jover Maestre on court four. Countee has now won three matches in a row and owns a 3-0 mark in the No. 4 slot.
The Pirates will return to action next Sunday, Feb. 28 when it travels to Conway, S.C., to take on Coastal Carolina. First serve is scheduled for 12 noon.
