Pirates Stumble at Coastal Carolina, 6-1
February 28, 2016 | Men's Tennis
CONWAY, S.C. - The East Carolina men's tennis team dropped its third-straight match, 6-1, at Coastal Carolina on Sunday.
The Pirates fell into an early 1-0 hole in the overall match when the Chanticleers collected a pair of 6-2 doubles victories on courts one and two.
ECU was unable to get the momentum swinging in its direction with the start of singles play, as Coastal Carolina (7-2) worked its way to straight-set wins on courts one, two and five to clinch the match.
Sophomore Kasey Countee was the bright spot for East Carolina (6-4), battling his way to a 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 victory oer Rick Timmerman in the No. 4 spot of the singles lineup for his fourth-straight victory. Countee is now 4-0 in dual match play this season out of the No. 4 singles position.
The Pirates will return to action with matches on back-to-back days at The Citadel on Sunday, March 6, before continuing on to Saint Augustine, Fla., to face Flagler College.
