March 06, 2016 | Men's Tennis
CHARLESTON, S.C. - The East Carolina men's tennis team used momentum from a tight doubles point to propel its way to a 7-0 road victory at The Citadel on Sunday.
The Pirates got on the board early with a quick 6-0 shutout win at No. 3 doubles by the tandem of Kasey Countee and Ronny Georgi, but the Bulldogs responded with a convincing 6-1 victory of their own on court one. With the match's first point hanging in the balance on court two, Vlad Anghel and Fredric Lehfeldt battled their way to a 7-6 (4) triumph to give the purple and gold the 1-0 advantage on the scoreboard.
East Carolina (7-4) would use that surge heading into singles play by winning all six matches in straight sets, including a fifth-straight win by Countee on court three.
ECU returns to action Monday, March 7 when it travels to St. Augustine, Fla., to take on Flagler College.
