
ECU Set To Play In 2016 American Championship

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina women's golf team will look to solidify its position for postseason play this weekend when it participates in the 2016 American Athletic Conference Championships. The three-day, 54-hole event is being held at the Hammock Beach Resort & Golf Club in Palm Coast, Fla. and hosted by The American and UCF Sunday through Tuesday, April 17-19.
Play on the 6,225-yard, par-72 Ocean Course begins at 8 a.m. (ET) on Sunday with 18 holes each of the three days. An awards presentation will take place following the final round on Tuesday. Admission to the event is free and open to the public, and live scoring can be found through www.GolfStat.com.
The Pirates (116-28-2), who are ranked No. 32 in the latest GolfStat rankings, are one of four teams competing in the championships that are ranked among the Top 50 nationally and are joined by Houston (No. 28), SMU (No. 29) and Tulane (No. 44).
ECU Head Coach Kevin Williams will use a lineup consisting of Frida Gustafsson Spang (senior), Lisa Pettersson (sophomore), Nicoline Engstroem Skaug (senior), Catherine Ashworth (freshman) and Kate Law (freshman).
The event features all nine American teams that sponsor women's golf. The nine institutions that sponsor women's golf are UCF, Cincinnati, East Carolina, Houston, Memphis, USF, SMU, Tulane and Tulsa.
