ECU Moves Up To Ninth At Baton Rouge Regional

BATON ROUGE, La. - The East Carolina women's golf team moved up one spot into ninth place after carding a second round score of 301 (13-over) at the 2016 NCAA Baton Rouge Regional. The three-day event is being held at the par-72, 6,285-yard University Club.
The Pirates (602/26-over) are 14 strokes out of sixth place heading into final round action. In order to make their first-ever NCAA Championship appearance, they would need to finish in the top-6 which is currently held by No. 20 Oregon and No. 37 BYU both tied for fifth at 588 (12-over).
Senior Frida Gustafsson Spang leads the Pirates with a 36-hole score of 146 (76-70) following her 2-under par round on Friday. Spang, who started on the par-4 10th hole, registered two birdies and six pars on the back nine before tallying two more birdies, one double bogey and five pars on the first nine holes.
Senior Nicoline Engstroem Skaug (72-79) and freshman Catherine Ashworth (75-76) are tied for 40th with a two-day score of 151 (7-over). Skaug, who was tied for 10th after the first round, carded three bogeys and two double bogeys to go along with 13 pars. Ashworth collected 11 pars, two birdies, four bogeys and one double bogey during her round.
Sophomore Lisa Pettersson (78-78) and freshman Kate Law (79-77) are tied for 65th with a score of 153 (9-over par).
24th-ranked South Carolina (567/9-under) holds an eight shot lead over No. 13 Washington (575/1-under) after posting an 11-under 277 - the second lowest 54-hole score in the history of the University Club. Fifth-ranked Florida (580/4-over) is third followed by No. 4 Duke (585/9-over) and Oregon (588/12-over) and BYU (588/12-over), who are tied for fifth.
East Carolina will tee off from hole No. 1 at 8:30 a.m. (ET) and will play with Arizona State and Houston in the final round.
