GREENVILLE, N.C. --- The ECU men's golf team returns to the links Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 2-3, at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course on the Centennial Campus of NC State University in Raleigh with the hopes of repeating as tournament champion.
The Pirates captured the 2016 title by shooting 15-under-par 837. Tim Conover collected medalist honors with a 12-under-par 201.
Conover will play from the No. 4 position this season with sophomores Blake Taylor and Patrick Stephenson, who each shot 9-over-par at last season's tournament, occupying the No. 1 and No. 2 slots and senior Jackson Spires at No. 3.
Spires fired a 2-under-par 211 a year and tied for fifth-place.
Senior Clay Brown rounds out the Pirates' five-man team with sophomore Chris Akers and freshman Stephen Carroll competing as individuals.
The tournament features 14 teams and 11 individual players. The event opens on Monday morning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Play will be continuous on Monday as the players will play 36 holes. The third and final round will be held on Tuesday.
Joining the Pirates and host Wolfpack are Campbell, Chattanooga, Francis Marion, George Washington, High Point, James Madison, Loyola (Md.), Maryland, North Carolina, UCNCG, USC Upstate and Wofford.
ECU will play alongside Chattanooga and Loyola (Md.) on Monday.
