
Forbrigd Named American Women’s Golfer-Of-The-Month

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – ECU sophomore Dorthea Forbrigd was named the American Women's Golf Player-of-the-Month for September, the league announced on Monday.
In her first two events of the season, Forbrigd finished tied for 26th at the Minnesota Invitational after posting a then career-low score of 217 (74-71-72). She followed that by winning her first individual title at the Pirate Collegiate Classic where she carded a personal-best 54-hole score of 215 (1-under par) firing rounds of 69, 75 and 71. Forbrigd led the Pirate Collegiate Classic in total birdies (13) and par-5 scoring (4.42/7-under), while sharing second in par-3 scoring (2.83/2-under) and tied for 13th in total pars (33).
"I'm very excited and proud of Dorthea in being named golfer-of-the-month," head coach Kevin Williams said. "She is an extremely hard worker and has played very consistent for us during the first two tournaments."
Forbrigd helped the Pirates to an eighth place finish (out of 14 teams) at the Minnesota Invitational with a score of 860 (4-under), which included a win over preseason No. 9 Georgia. ECU picked up a team win at the Pirate Collegiate Classic, the third-straight in the event and 30th in program history, after shooting a tournament record 865 (1-over).
The Pirates (22-7-0) will return to action on Monday, Oct. 9 and Tuesday, Oct. 10 participating in the Pinehurst Challenge, which will be hosted by College of Charleston at Pinehurst No. 1.
