Rutgers, the nation's leader in scoring defense, held ECU to 47 points and defeated the Pirates 61-47 in the final game of the Showcase On The Banks for both teams Friday.

After ECU (2-3) had pulled within seven early in the second half, Rutgers (6-0) outscored the Pirates 25-8 over a 10-minute stretch to take 57-33 lead with 7:56 remaining. Six Scarlet Knights scored three or more points during the run led by seven from guard Mike Williams, who capped the spurt with a 3-pointer.

ECU PLAYER-OF-THE-GAME
Senior Jabari Craig scored a career-high 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting with five rebounds in 22 minutes of action. He also set a career-best for field goals made and field goal attempts.

Senior Deshawn Freeman posted his first double-double of the season, scoring a game-high 15 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. He had 10 double-doubles last season.

ECU freshman Dimitri Spasojevic grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds, marking the first time he garnered double digit rebounds in his career … Senior Isaac Fleming was the only other player on the team to score double figures, finishing with 14 points.
