Pirates Sweep Delaware for Ninth Win

Newark, Del. – East Carolina improved to 9-1 on the season with a 7-0 sweep of Delaware (2-4) Saturday afternoon. The Pirates return to action Friday when they travel to Campbell for a 1 p.m. match.

"This was good for us," head coach Shawn Heinchon said. "We got a chance to play outside, which was a first for us this spring. We played solid and our focus was where we needed it to be."

Javier Renones and Will Bissett were the first doubles pair to finish at the No. 3 spot earning a 6-0 shutout over Scott Cameron and Roy Cheng. Freddie McGeehan and Kasey Countee clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win over Tyler Flematti and Colin Wong at the top of the lineup while James Ling and Ronny Georgi completed the doubles sweep with a 6-4 win over Blaise Casselbury and Laurenz Lankes.

Fredric Lehfeldt defeated Venkatesh Ramkumar in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 for a 2-0 ECU lead. Renones won in the same fashion over Dominick Perez at the bottom of the lineup while Vlad Anghel won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles clinching the Pirates ninth win of the season. Georgi and Ling won their respective matches at No. 2 and No. 5 singles. McGeehan completed the sweep with a 7-6(3), 6-3 win at the top of the lineup over Lankes.
