
Pirates Open Spring Break At Palmetto Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina men's golf team will participate in its first of two Spring Break tournaments when they travel to the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Invitational in Aiken, S.C., this Monday and Tuesday. Thirty-six holes will be played on Monday, with 18 holes being played on Tuesday.
The 20th Annual Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate will feature a 6,617-yard, par 70 setup at the Palmetto Golf Club, which was founded in 1892 and is designated as the fourth-oldest golf course in the United States. The tournament will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Monday.
In addition to host USC Aiken and the Pirates, this year's field includes four top-50 teams: No. 3 Virginia, No. 16 Clemson, No. 36 Liberty and No. 39 South Carolina along with xx Akron, Augusta, Coastal Carolina, Charleston Southern, Chattanooga, Francis Marion, Furman, Georgia Southern, Presbyterian, Temple, USC Upstate and Wofford.
The Pirates will send juniors Tim Conover and Jackson Spires along with freshmen Chris Akers, Patrick Stephenson and Blake Taylor. It'll be Akers' first tournament as a Pirate and Stephenson's first time playing from the No. 1 position.
ECU has finished in the top-5 of this tournament each of its last four appearances including a fourth-place finish a year ago. Conover, the only member of the team to compete here lat season, tied for 11th at 1-over-par.
