ECU In Fifth At Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate

AIKEN, S.C. – The East Carolina men's golf team sits in fifth-place after two rounds at the 2017 Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate. The Pirates fired a two round of score of 7-over-par 567 Monday, posting a first round total of 3-over 283 and a 4-over 284 in round two at the par 70, 6,617-yard Palmetto Golf Club.
Freshman Blake Taylor carded the Pirates' low tally of the day as he posted a 36-hole score of 1-under 139. He shot a 3-under 67 in round one before firing a 2-over 72 in the second round. Taylor will enter Tuesday's final round tied for 12th.
Junior Tim Conover sits two strokes behind his rookie teammate tied for 16th at 1-over 141. He fired a 1-over 71 to begin the day and then posted a par-70 to close. Fellow junior Jackson Spires stands a stroke back of Conover at 2-over 142 (71-71), tied for 19th. Freshman Patrick Stephenson is 5-over (74-71=145) after 36 holes, while freshman Chris Akers is 16-over (75-81=156).
Third-ranked Virginia is in first place with a two round total of 17-under 543 (273-270) and holds a three-stroke lead over second-place Clemson (269-277=546). Augusta is in third-place at 2-under 552 (276-282) followed by South Carolina in fourth at 6-over (279-287=566).
Clemson's Doc Redman and Virginia's Derek Bard are tied for the individual lead at 6-under 134.
