Pirates Earn 6-1 Win over Barton

GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina snapped a four-game losing streak with a 6-1 win over Barton (11-7) Tuesday afternoon at the River Birch Tennis Center. The Pirates improve to 15-7 overall will host Elon Friday in the regular season finale.
"This was good for us today," head coach Shawn Heinchon said. "We need to keep working hard the next couple of days but I'm hoping today's work will help us in our last home match on Friday against Elon."Â

The Pirates won the doubles point with wins from Freddie McGeehan and James Ling at No. 1 doubles and Kasey Countee and Ronny Georgi on court three.

Vlad Angel played No. 1 singles for the second time this season where he earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over Julian Bosch. Ronny Georgi defeated Yaxi Pintado 6-1, 6-3 on court three while Javier Renones earned a 6-2, 6-1 win over Rory Gaydon. Will Bissett defeated Ermanno Galimberti 6-2, 7-5 on court five while Austin Allen defeated Alexandre Alves 6-2, 7-6(1).

Jake McCartney earned the only point for Barton with a 1-6, 7-5, 10-7 win over Freddie McGeehan on court two.

The Pirates have one match remaining before heading south to the American Athletic Conference Tournament in Orlando, Fla., April 20. First serve versus Elon is slated for 2 p.m. on Friday.
