GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina will play its final two non-conference games of the regular season Wednesday evening, traveling to Longwood University for a doubleheader at Lancer Field in Farmville, Va. Game one is scheduled for a 5 p.m. first pitch.

The Pirates picked up a sweep of American Athletic Conference opponent Connecticut over the weekend, defeating the Huskies by scores of 4-0, 4-1 and 2-1 to record their first-ever sweep in AAC play. ECU is now 23-23 overall and 5-7 in conference action, matching last year's win totals both overall and in the league.

Senior outfielder Kacie Oshiro went 6-for-10 with a .692 on base mark and 1.000 slugging percentage last week to earn AAC Player of the Week honors. Senior RHP Lydia Ritchie was also recognized by the conference on its weekly honor roll after compiling a 4-0 record and 0.56 earned run average with 21 strikeouts and two complete-game shutouts in 25 innings pitched.

East Carolina is hitting .261 as a team with a .457 slugging percentage and a .365 on base mark. The Pirates currently lead the AAC in slugging percentage, runs scored (230), RBI (211), doubles (57), home runs (55), total bases (527), sacrifice flies (14) and walks drawn (168). The Purple and Gold set the AAC single-season home run record over the weekend and are just four away from a new program single-season standard. ECU is currently fourth nationally in home runs and sixth in home runs per game (1.20)

Junior infielder Meredith Burroughs leads the team with a .317 batting average while redshirt freshman infielder Tate McClellan is second with a .303 mark. Burroughs paces the squad in hits (40), RBI (39), total bases (84) and sacrifice flies (4) and is second in home runs (12). Redshirt junior catcher Alex Mycek leads the AAC in slugging percentage (.675), home runs (14) and walks (27).

In terms of pitching, Ritchie is 15-10 with a 2.70 earned run average. She has stuck out 113 batters (second in the AAC) against 63 walks and opposing teams are batting .254 against her. Ritchie currently ranks seventh on the program career chart for strikeouts with 331.

Longwood lost two of three to Presbyterian at home over the weekend in a Big South Conference series to fall to 16-23 overall. The Lancers are batting .231 as a team with a .348 slugging percentage and .322 on base mark. The pitching staff owns a collective 2.69 ERA and has struck out 200 batters in 260.2 innings of work. Kaylynn Batten paces the Lancer offense with a .289 batting average while Sydney Gay boasts a 2.46 ERA and 108 strikeouts in 145 innings pitched.

East Carolina leads the series with Longwood 6-4 after the Lancers recorded a doubleheader sweep in Greenville last season.
