GREENVILLE, N.C. – The ECU soccer team hits the road for the first time this season when the Pirates travel to Davidson for a 7 p.m. match against the Wildcats Friday night. ECU opened the season with a 3-2 overtime win last Friday and has had a week to prepare for Davidson.
Â
The Pirates enter Friday 10-0 all-time against Davidson and will face the Wildcats on the road for the sixth time in program history. ECU has shut out Davidson, 2-0, in both of the last two meetings and has outscored the Wildcats 11-2 in the last five matches.Â
Â
ECU's Marianna Shurina scored in the 94th minute on an assist from Tori Riggs in the season opener to help the Pirates defeat defending Atlantic-10 champion Dayton 3-2. Courtney Cash tallied a goal and two assists in the win and senior Jenna Geist also dished out a pair of helpers. Ashley Kendrot scored the Pirates' second goal of the match, which was her first career goal.
Â
Davidson is 1-1 this season following a 4-0 win over Gardner-Webb in its season opener and a 4-0 loss to Wake Forest on Aug. 20. Allison Gray leads the Wildcats in points with a goal and an assist while Perry Zollicoffer has a team-best two assists this season.Â
