Pirates Travel To Greensboro For Final Fall Tournament

GREENVILLE, N.C. --- The ECU men's golf team will wrap up the fall portion of its schedule at the Grandover Collegiate in Greensboro, Oct. 27-28. The 54-hole event will be held at the at the par-72, 7,245-yard Grandover Resort.

The 13-team field features Appalachian State, Chattanooga, Liberty, Maryland, Mercer, Michigan State, Northwestern, Penn State, Rutgers, VCU, Virginia Tech and host UNCG. Liberty is the highest ranked team in the tournament at No. 35, followed by No. 38 Northwestern and No. 49 Penn State to round out the list of Top 50 teams competing this weekend.

Head coach Andrew Sapp's lineup features juniors Blake Taylor and Patrick Stephenson, freshman A.J. Beechler, sophomore Tim Bunten and junior Logan Shuping.

Taylor has finished in third-place in each of the Pirates' previous two tournaments, carding a 10-under-par 206 at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate and a 13-under-par 203 at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. Taylor leads the team with a 69.92 scoring average and has shot less than par in seven of his last eight rounds.

Junior Chris Akers and freshmen Attie Giles and Jack Massei will compete as individuals.

ECU is coming off an eighth-place finish at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate in Jonesborough two weeks ago, shooting 5-under-par 856.
