Pirates Conclude Fall Season At Grandover Collegiate

GREENSBORO, N.C. --- The ECU men's golf team completed its fall season with an eighth-place finish at the Grandover Collegiate at the Grandover Resort on Sunday with a three round total of 904 (290-307-307).

Junior Blake Taylor recorded his third consecutive third-place finish, carding a 2-under-par 214 (68-75-71) to lead the Pirates. Taylor shot under-par in 10 of 15 rounds played during the fall with eight rounds in the 60s.

Fellow junior Chris Akers fired an 8-over 224 (79-71-74) to finish tied for 28th in his season debut. Junior Patrick Stephenson and freshman Attie Giles were the only other Pirates to finish among the Top 50 with Stephenson carding a 13-over 229 (75-73-81) to tie for 44th and Giles shooting 14-over 230 (74-79-77) to finish tied for 46th.

Tim Bunten tallied a 54-hole score of 15-over 231 (73-78-80), while A.J. Beechler was 16-over (74-81-77). Logan Shuping carded a 26-over 242 (82-81-79) and Jack Massei was 28-over-par (79-77-88=244).

Host UNCG won the tournament by 10 strokes over second-place Liberty by shooting 5-under-par 869 (289-282-298). Northwestern's David Nyfjall captured medalist honors at 5-under-par 211 (70-72-69).

ECU will return to the links Feb. 4-5, 2019 at the Sea Best Invitational in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
