ECU Opens Spring Slate At Sea Best Invitational

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – The ECU men's golf team will open the spring portion of its 2018-19 schedule this week at the 11th Annual Sea Best Invitational at TPC Sawgrass. The two-day event begins with 36 holes on Monday, Feb. 4, followed by another 18 holes Tuesday, Feb. 5.
The Pirates are making their eighth appearance in the tournament overall an third straight. A year ago ECU placed ninth out of 15 teams with Patrick Stephenson posting a team-low scored of 1-over-par.
ECU has finished fourth in the tournament three times.
This season Stephenson will be joined by Blake Taylor, A.J. Beechler, Tim Bunten and Stephen Carroll with Logan Shuping competing as an individual. Shuping and Taylor also competed in the event last season.
The field is comprised of 15 teams including three Top-25 teams: No. 13 Arkansas, No. 23 North Florida and No. 25 UNLV. Â Also scheduled to compete along with ECU are Campbell, Florida, Florida State, Jacksonville, Liberty, Lipscomb, McNeese State, North Carolina, NC State and USC Upstate.
The tournament will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start Monday. Live scoring is available through Golfstat.com.
