ECU Post All-Time Top-3 Times On Day One Of GT Invitational

ATLANTA --- The ECU swimming and diving team posted four all-time Top-3 times, including one school record Thursday, Nov. 15, on the first day of the Georgia Invitational at the McAuley Aquatic Center.
Victor Dos Santos, Eric Hinderup, Gustavo Santos and Gavin Erdmann teamed up to set the ECU record in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:19.76 and placed sixth in the race ahead of Auburn, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Erdmann later posted the second-fastest 50-yard freestyle time in school history, finishing with a time of 19.97 just 0.10 off the varsity record.
The men's 400-yard medley relay team of Tristan Taylor, Jacek Arentewicz, Blaz Demsar and Santos also earned a sixth-place finish, touching ahead of squads from No. 16 Virginia Tech, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Taylor swan the lead leg was of the relay and posted a time of 48.89 in the 100-yard backstroke, third-fastest time in ECU lore.

Freshman Marek Osina qualified for the finals in the 200 IM with a personal-best time of 1:42.72 in the preliminaries and registered a ninth-place finish.
On the women's side, Catherine Johnson recorded a personal-best in the 50-yard freestyle and finished under 23 seconds for the first time in her career with a time of 22.86, third-quickest on the Pirates' all-time charts.

In addition to the aforementioned teams, the men's field includes No. 4 Florida, No. 12 Alabama, No. 19 Florida State and No. 20 Georgia Tech.
The ECU women's team is competing against No. 10 Florida, No. 12 Auburn, No. 19 North Carolina, No. 22 Florida State and No. 24 South Carolina, as well as Alabama, FGCU, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech.
The Pirates will return to McAuley Aquatic Center Friday for the second day of the Georgia Tech Invitational. Prelims will begin at 10 a.m. with finals starting at 5:30 p.m. The entirety of the GT Invite is broadcast live on ACC Network Extra.
