Gameday: Pirates Face High Point To Complete Homestand

GREENVILLE, N.C. – ECU will wrap up its second three-game home stand of the young season Saturday, Nov. 24, the Pirates welcome High Point University to Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum. Tip-off against the Panthers in scheduled for approximately 5 p.m. following the conclusion of the women's basketball game between ECU and Wake Forest which begins at 2 p.m.
The Pirates are coming off a 76-64 victory over Prairie View A&M Wednesday night. Freshman Jayden Gardner posted his second double-double of the season, finishing with 28 points and a career-best 17 points. Sophomore Shawn Williams scored 18 points in his season debut, while junior Seth LeDay scored his first career double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
ECU is off to a 4-2 start this season with a 4-1 record at home. The Pirates' lone loss in Greenville was a buzzer-beating loss to James Madison, 73-72, in the second game of the year.
High Point returns stateside with an overall record of 2-3 after going 2-1 at Bimini Jam in the Bahamas with wins over South Dakota and Air Force and a semifinal to loss UMBC.
Junior Jahaad Proctor leads HPU with 19.6 points per game and is coming off a 28-point performance against Air Force in the third-place game of the Bimini Jam. Brandonn Kamaga is the only other Panther to average double figures scoring with 12.3 points per game, but missed the last two games due to an upper body injury.
Six-foot-7 senior Ricky Madison is the Panthers' top rebounder with 7.2 rebounds per game.
Saturday's game will be the first meeting between the former Old North State Conference foes in more than 50 years with the last meeting coming on Jan. 31, 1968.
