
ECU Announces 2019 Softball Signing Class

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Logyn Estes and Sophie Wools have signed national letters of intent to attend East Carolina University and compete for the softball program beginning in the fall of 2019 according to an announcement Wednesday by fourth-year head coach Courtney Oliver.

- Named Virginia 2A State Player of the Year, Region B Player of the Year and Bull Run District Player of the Year as a sophomore in leading the Mountaineers to the district, region and state championships.
- Went 13-1 with a 0.62 earned run average and .446 batting average her sophomore season.
- As a junior, hit .500 as well as compiling an 11-2 record and 0.86 ERA in the circle.
- Named Bull Run District Player of the Year and Region B Player of the Year as well as earning first-team all-state selection her junior campaign.
- As a freshman, hit .352 and notched a 1.72 ERA while earning first-team all-district accolades in helping lead Madison County to the district championship.
- Also earned four varsity letters as a member of the Mountaineer volleyball squad.
- Currently ranks No. 8 in her class with a 4.23 GPA.
Sophie Wools | Catcher | 5-6 | Leesburg, Va. | Tuscarora High School
- Enters her senior season at Tuscarora with 95 hits, 23 home runs and a .690 on base percentage.
- Hit 11 home runs and produced a .690 on base percentage as the Huskies won the Region 5C championship and advanced to the state semifinals.
- Named conference player of the year as a sophomore while earning first-team all-state, all-region and all-state laurels.
- Tabbed to the all-conference first team her freshman season, batting .529 with seven home runs.
- Father, Tony Wools, played basketball at Longwood University.
