ECU Continues NCAA Second Round Play

AUSTIN, Texas --- ECU fell out of contention at the 2018 NCAA Austin Regional Tuesday due to an illness that spread through the team. Kathryn Carson and Carley Cox were the only members of the Pirates' five-man roster to compete in the second round.
Dorthea Forbrigd , Kate Law and Lisa Pettersson did not participate in Tuesday's round therefore ECU is ineligible to advance beyond the preliminary rounds.
Cox carded a 2-over-par 74 and fell to 6-over-par 150 (76-74), but moved up five places into a tie for 48th. Carson fired a 6-over-par 78 and fell 18 places into a tie for 60th at 8-over-par 152 (74-78).
Third-ranked Arkansas leads the field at 21-under-par followed by No. 8 Texas in second-place at 10-under-par and 14th-ranked Florida in third at 2-over-par. Baylor, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma and Texas A&M are in a four-way tie for fourth-place at 5-over-par. Only the top six teams from the regional advance to the national championships in Stillwater, Okla.
The final round action is schedule to begin at 9 a.m. ET with ECU slated to tee off at 10:50 a.m. ET alongside players from Georgetown and Missouri State.
