GREENVILLE, N.C. – After a midweek bye, the ECU women's basketball team returns to the court on Saturday afternoon when the Pirates travel to Memphis for an AAC contest.

ECU (10-6, 1-2 AAC) most recently fell to Tulsa 75-55 at home to drop to 8-2 at home. Raven Johnson led the Pirates with 17 points while Alex Frazier finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds to record her first career double-double. Justice Gee tied her career-high with eight rebounds and also led ECU with five assists.

Johnson leads ECU in both scoring (13.4 ppg) and rebounding (6.5 rpg). Right behind Johnson in scoring is Lashonda Monk, who is averaging 12.7 points. Monk also leads the Pirates in assists (48) and steals (57) and her 3.8 steals per game leads the AAC and is eighth in the NCAA. Destiny Campbell is ECU's leader in blocked shots with 23 rejections, placing her second in the conference. The Pirate defense has been one of the best in the conference, with ECU leading the AAC in steals per game (12.0), turnovers forced per game (22.8) and turnover margin (+7.00) and is second in blocked shots per game (4.1). ECU is eighth in the country in forcing turnovers and is tied for eighth in turnover margin. Â

Memphis (6-10, 1-2 AAC) is coming off its first conference win of the season, topping Wichita State 71-50 last Saturday. The Tigers were on a three-game losing streak before the victory, including conference losses to UCF and Tulsa. The Tigers have been outscored by four points per game this season, with Memphis averaging 58.6 points and allowing 62.6 points and the Tigers' .358 shooting percentage is last in the American. Jamirah Shutes is the leading scorer for Memphis, averaging 13.5 points. Alana Davis is the other Tiger averaging double figures in scoring (12.6 ppg) and also leads the team in rebounding (8.6 rpg) and shooting percentage (.529). Memphis is fourth in the conference in rebounding, averaging 41.2 rebounds per game.

Memphis holds a slight edge in the all-time series between the two schools, leading 16-13. Last season, the two teams split a pair of matchups, with each team winning at home. ECU's 75-62 win in Minges Coliseum ended a four-game losing streak to the Tigers. The Pirates are 3-11 in away games against Memphis. The last road win for ECU came in 2010, when ECU claimed a 77-76 win in overtime. Since ECU joined the American for the 2014-15 season, Memphis leads the series 5-2, including winning all four games in Memphis.
