WINCHESTER, MASS. – The ECU men's tennis team continued its perfect road record with a 7-0 win at Boston University on Saturday afternoon.
"As always, there are pressure moments and adverse situations in every match and all of our guys handled those extremely well today," said assistant coach Ian Van Cott. "A great team effort all the way through. We look forward to finishing this trip on a high note against Bryant tomorrow."
ECU (9-1) won a close doubles point to take an early lead. Simon Labbe and Vlad Anghel won for the second straight day, beating Pete Siozios and Max Stehling 6-3. The Pirates clinched the point when Diogo Marques and Austin Allen beat Owen Lu and Ethan Kolsky 7-5 on court one.
ECU continued its momentum by winning four of the six first sets during singles play. The first to close out the second set was Marques, with the freshman beating Lu 6-2, 6-3 on court one. His classmate, Simon Labbe, quickly followed with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Marc Sable on court six.
The Pirates clinched the match when Wisse Jonker beat Max Stehling 6-4, 6-4. Jonker is now 9-1 in dual matches. Anghel won his match in straight sets, beating Siozios 6-4, 6-4 on court two.
