GREENVILLE, N.C. – With an 11-day layoff ahead, the ECU men's tennis team will try to head into the break with a win as the Pirates take on North Florida on Wendesday afternoon.

"Another great opportunity for the team tomorrow," said assistant coach Ian Van Cott. "We will be ready to battle."

ECU (11-2) is coming off a 5-2 win over Jacksonville State at home. It was just the first outdoor home match of the season for the Pirates. In the match, ECU won a tightly contested doubles point, as Wisse Jonker and Javier Renones won on court one and Austin Allen and Diogo Marques won on court two. In singles, Renones, Marques, Ronny Georgi and Vlad Anghel all won to clinch the match.

Marques and Jonker both have a team-best 17 wins. Jonker is 11-2 in singles matches, going 10-2 on court three while Marques has a 5-3 mark on the top court. Renones has the longest current winning streak for ECU, having won all nine of his dual matches this season and is 15-7 overall. Anghel has found his groove on court two, going 7-2 there and 14-9 this season.

In doubles, Allen and Marques have a team-high seven wins while Renones has won six matches with two different partners, Jonker (6-3) and Simon Labbe (6-1). The Pirates have been at their strongest on court two, going 8-4 (.667) there.

North Florida (4-8) started the season with a 4-3 record, but has lost five straight matches, all away from home. The last two have been close, as the Ospreys lost to both Georgia State and Charlotte 4-3. Dominik Barton leads North Florida with a 16-7 record and is 8-4 in dual matches. Sahil Deshmukh is the only other player with a dual match record over .500, as he is 7-4. In doubles, the Ospreys have struggled on court one, going 2-8 there. Nilo Duarte and Till Von Winning have played the majority of those matches and are 6-8 overall.
