Aggie Invitational Live Results | Mount Olive Live Results
GREENVILLE, N.C. – After a successful showing in its home meet last weekend, the ECU track and field program will head in two different directions this weekend for a pair of meets.
Â
One group of Pirates will travel to Greensboro for the North Carolina A&T Aggie Invitational while other athletes will make their way to Mount Olive for the Pickle Field Day Relays.
Â
"Both teams are very excited about competing this weekend," Director of Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Curt Kraft said. "We are coming off a great Bill Carson Invitational track meet from last weekend. We have to continue the momentum and the energy from last weekend. This weekend's meet is always a very high-level meet with good competition. We had a team meeting last weekend and I told the teams we have to stay focused and stay healthy. This is always the time of the year when their marks start really improving."
The ECU women's team won its fourth-straight Bill Carson Invitational title a week ago, easily outpacing the field with a total of 272.5 points. Charlotte was second with 178.5. The men's squad took second place behind the 49ers.
Â
In all, the Pirates won 14 events – seven on the track and seven in the field. Grace Sullivan broke her own school record in the Steeplechase, turning in a time of 10:12.62 that helped her earn American Athletic Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week accolades.
Â
Anna Bristle, a freshman, currently leads the AAC in the 5,000m while the 4x400 relay team of Brooke Stith, D'Nia Freeman, Courtney Warner and Mariah Atwater pace the league in that event. On the men's side, Nick Ciaccia owns the top time in the conference in the 10,000m.
Â
Following this weekend, ECU has one last chance to tune up for the AAC Outdoor Championships when it participates in the Duke Invitational April 19-20.
