ECU Fourth After 18 Holes At AAC Championships

PALM COAST, Fla. – No. 55 ECU carded an opening round 296 (8-over par) at the 2019 American Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championship and currently sits in fourth place. The three-day, 54-hole event is being held at the Hammock Beach Resort & Golf Club.

Sophomore Kathryn Carson led the way for the Pirates posting an even round 72 and is tied for sixth place. Junior Dorthea Forbrigd (73) is one shot back and tied for eighth, while senior Carely Cox is tied for 19th following her round of 75 (3-over). Rounding out the Pirates roster are senior Kate Law (76, 4-over) and junior Grace Yatawara (85, 13-over) who are tied for 28th and 49th.

Houston leads the team portion of the event after posting a 1-under par 287 and holds a seven-stroke lead over UCF (294, 6-over). USF sits in third at 295 (7-over) followed by ECU and SMU (298, 10-over).

Second round action gets underway Monday, April 15 at 8 a.m. (ET).
