GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina softball team heads to Kansas this week for a three-game American Athletic Conference series at Wichita State. The Pirates and Shockers will play the set Thursday through Saturday due to the Easter holiday.

ECU picked up its second league victory of the season Sunday, defeating Tulsa 1-0 in eight innings to snap a 14-game losing streak in the series with the Golden Hurricane. It was also the first win over Tulsa for the program since 2014. Tate McClellan drove in the winning run with a RBI single while Erin Poepping tossed her first career extra-inning complete game shutout. The Pirates are 20-23 overall and 2-10 in AAC play entering this weekend's series.

East Carolina is hitting .265 as a team, led by Rachel McCollum who sports a .341 batting average. She paces the team in doubles (8), RBI (37) and total bases (69) as well as slugging percentage (.548). Tyler King has rapped out a squad-high 50 hits while Ashleigh Inae is tops on the club in runs scored (33).

In the circle, Poepping owns a 13-15 record and 2.98 earned run average with 139 strikeouts against 55 walks in 183.1 innings pitched. She is holding opposing hitters to a .268 batting average and has tossed 17 complete games.

A Look At Wichita State
The Shockers collected a sweep at Memphis last weekend to improve to 26-19 overall and 7-5 in conference play – good for third place in the league standings. Madison Perrigan was tabbed the AAC Player of the Week and leads her club in hits (44), runs scored (34), doubles (13), home runs (9), RBI (38) and total bases (88). Wichita State is hitting .285 collectively with 66 doubles, nine triples and 38 home runs. Caitlin Bingham and Erin McDonald handle a bulk of the Shocker pitching duties, sporting respective 3.35 and 3.49 ERAs. The duo has combined for 159 strikeouts and 129 walks in 238.1 innings.

The Wichita State Series
Wichita State holds a 3-1 lead in the series with East Carolina. The Shockers took two of three from the Pirates last season in Greenville.
