GREENVILLE, N.C. – The ECU softball team looks to get back in the win column Wednesday when it treks to Raleigh for a non-conference game against NC State.
Â
The Pirates were swept by USF in an American Athletic Conference series over the weekend in Tampa, but lost the three games by a combined four runs including a pair of one-run decisions Saturday and Sunday. ECU is 19-20 overall in advance of its meeting with the Wolfpack.
Â
As a team, the Pirates are hitting .274 led by Rachel McCollum who sports a .360 batting average. The redshirt junior also paces the squad in doubles (8), RBI (37) and slugging percentage (.588). In the circle, Erin Poepping holds a 2.83 earned run average with 121 strikeouts in 160.2 innings of work.

A Look At NC State
The Wolfpack are 21-18 overall following a weekend during which they lost two of three at home to Syracuse. Brigette Nordberg leads the NC State offense with a .333 batting average, 38 hits, 30 runs scored and 14 home runs. Devin Wallace has tossed a squad-high 122.1 innings with a 9-11 record and 2.75 ERA as well as 127 strikeouts. NCSU is under the direction of first-year head coach Jennifer Patrick-Swift. Â

The NC State Series
NC State leads the series with ECU 12-8, but the Pirates have won the last two meetings. Last season, ECU downed the Wolfpack 2-1 in Greenville after picking up a 7-4 victory in Raleigh in 2016.
