ECU Sends Split Squad To Myrtle Beach

East Carolina head coach Andrew Sapp will split his men's golf team into two squads this week to compete at separate tournaments simultaneously in Myrtle Beach on March 9-10.
The Pirates will send their "A" team of Blake Taylor, Patrick Stephenson, A.J. Beechler, Attie Giles and Stephen Carroll to compete at the General Hackler Championships at the Dunes Golf & Beach Club.
Tee times will start at 7:40 a.m. ET on Monday morning, double-tee starts, with 36-holes of play. Tuesday will be the final round of 18 holes with a double-tee start as well at 7:40 a.m. ET.
The field features seven teams ranked in the Golfstat top 40 led by No. 7 Wake Forest along with No. 14 Louisville, No. 25 ETSU, No. 26 North Carolina, No. 34 Kansas, Kent State, No. 35 Liberty and No. 39 South Carolina. Also joining the Pirates in field are host Coastal Carolina, North Florida, NC State, Penn State, , UNCG and Wisconsin.
East Carolina finished seventh at the tournament last season with a 54-hole total of 9-over-par 873. Beechler posted the team's best individual finish, tying for seventh at 5-under-par 211 (71-74-66).
The Pirates' "B" team of Connor Jones, Chris Sperrazza , Jack Massei, Chris Akers and Jimbo Stanley will participate in the Bash at the Beach, held at the Surf Golf and Beach Club.
Teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday.
