GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina steps out of American Athletic Conference play Wednesday for a non-conference contest at NC State. The Pirates seek their first victory since defeating N.C. Central on the road April 5.

The game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. first pitch and will be streamed live through ACC Network Extra.

ECU (19-24) was swept by No. 20 UCF in Orlando last weekend, but dropped two of the games by just one run and the entire series by just six runs. The Pirates kept the potent Knight offense in check, limiting UCF to nine runs, a .264 batting average and just four extra-base hits. Logyn Estes was particularly effective in the circle, producing a 1.17 earned run average and a .217 batting average against in 12 innings of work.

East Carolina enters the midweek with a .266 batting average, 58 doubles, 10 triples and 17 home runs. The pitching staff owns a 4.03 ERA with 186 strikeouts and 141 walks in 288 innings.

ECU is 6-6 away from home this season with wins at College of Charleston (three), Memphis (two) and N.C. Central. The Pirates need just one more victory to match the 2019 squad's seven road triumphs.

The Competition
NC State is 28-18 this season but has lost four straight, including an Atlantic Coast Conference sweep at the hands of Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets outscored the Wolfpack 17-2 in Atlanta to drop NC State to 5-13 in league play. The Wolfpack are hitting .266 collectively with 52 doubles, one triple and 69 home runs. Logan Morris paces the squad with a .393 batting average while Aisha Weixman has tossed a team-high 112.1 innings with a 3.43 ERA and 121 strikeouts.

The NC State Series
NC State leads the all-time series with ECU by a 13-8 count. The Pirates have won two of the last three meetings, including a 7-4 victory back on March 22, 2016 at Dail Softball Stadium. East Carolina is 5-7 against the Wolfpack in Raleigh.

Looking Ahead
ECU travels to the University of Tennessee this weekend for the Lady Vol Challenge. The Pirates will play two games each against UNC Greensboro and No. 15 Tennessee.
