ECU Takes Aim On 2022 AAC Championships

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – The East Carolina men's golf team is set to compete in the 2022 American Athletic Conference Championships, April 22-24, at the Southern Hills Golf Club (par-72m 7,274 yards. ECU, who is seeded No. 7, will tee off with No. 8 Wichita State and No. 9 Temple starting between 8-8:40 a.m. (ET).

The championship will feature three rounds of stroke play among nine teams and 45 players with the winner receiving the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.

The American has five team featured in the GolfStat Top 75 in South Florida (42), SMU (43), Houston (61), UCF (68) and Cincinnati (72).

Competed for ECU will be senior A.J. Beechler (No. 1), graduate senior Nicolas Brown (No. 2), graduate senior Stephen Carroll (No. 3), freshman Carter Busse (No. 4) and freshman Tyler DeChellis (No. 5). Senior Jack Massei will be the Pirates' designated substitute.

The Pirates finished in a tie for fifth a year ago in the AAC Championships with a score of 869 (5-over par). Beechler led the way for ECU finishing seventh (212/4-under), while Carroll claimed a share of 12th (216/even par).
