GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina takes a weekend break from its American Athletic Conference exploits, traveling to Knoxville and Sherri Parker Lee Stadium for the Lady Vol Challenge. The Pirates face a stout field comprised of UNC Greensboro and host No. 14 Tennessee.

ECU's games against the Lady Vols will stream live via SEC Network+ with Michael Wottreng and former Pirate softball standout Jill Jelnick on the call.

East Carolina was in a close contest with NC State Wednesday in Raleigh before the Wolfpack scored three runs in the sixth inning to notch a 9-6 victory. Faith Jarvis rapped out a pair of hits for the Pirates and drove in a team-high three runs. The Pirate pitching staff issued nine walks, including two with the bases loaded in the sixth before a hit batter accounted for NC State's ninth run.

Entering the weekend, ECU sports a .265 batting average with 60 doubles, 11 triples and 18 home runs as well as 58 stolen bases. In the circle, the Pirates own a 4.17 earned run average with 192 strikeouts against 150 walks. Opponents are hitting .277 against East Carolina pitchers.

About UNC Greensboro
UNC Greensboro fell to Campbell 5-4 in 11 innings Wednesday but holds a 12-0 record in Southern Conference play and is one of the nation's home run leaders with 84 to its credit. Maycin Brown is tops on the squad in batting average (.362), hits (47) and doubles (12) while Jordan Gontram has clubbed a team-best 14 home runs. In terms of the pitching staff, Morgan Scott has tossed 184.1 innings with a 19-8 record, 2.47 ERA and 217 strikeouts against 49 walks.

The UNCG Series
East Carolina is 26-13 against UNCG and has won eight of the last nine meetings. The Spartans defeated the Pirates 5-4 in eight innings last season in Greensboro.

Scouting Tennessee
Tennessee lost to No. 3 Virginia Tech by a 5-2 margin at home Wednesday in a Top-10 showdown. Kiki Milloy is batting a team-high .360 (50-for-139) and has tallied 13 of the Lady Vols' 68 home runs. Erin Edmoundson is the squad's top pitcher as she checks in with a 17-5 record, 2.32 ERA and 115 strikeouts in 132.2 innings of work.

The Tennessee Series
ECU and Tennessee have played just twice, splitting a pair of contests during the 2000 season in Knoxville.
