GREENVILLE, N.C. – Following eight-straight games on the road, East Carolina returns home Tuesday afternoon for a non-conference contest against N.C. Central. The game will stream live through ESPN+ with Evan Budrovich and Brittany Hoyt on the call.

First pitch has been moved to 2 p.m. due to the threat of inclement weather in the Greenville area Tuesday night.

With a weekend off from American Athletic Conference play, the Pirates (19-29) traveled to Knoxville for the Lady Vols Challenge where they faced off with UNC Greensboro and No. 14 Tennessee. ECU was unable to pick up a win, falling twice to both squads.

The Pirates are in the midst of a tough stretch of games of which five of the last eight have occurred against nationally-ranked opponents. Dating back to March 30, East Carolina has challenged itself against top 25 squads in No. 10 Duke, No. 20 UCF and No. 14 Tennessee. The last 17 contests have seen the Pirates face off against teams with a combined record of 243-102-1. Moreover, all but one slot among the top 82 in the latest NCAA ratings percentage index.

ECU enters Tuesday's affair with a .258 batting average, 60 doubles, 12 triples and 20 home runs. The Pirates rank second among AAC squads in doubles and are tied for the league lead in triples. East Carolina is also third in stolen bases (62). As for the pitching staff, ECU owns a collective 4.46 earned run average with 208 strikeouts and 162 walks in 317 innings of work.

Faith Jarvis leads the squad in several categories, including hits (48), runs scored and stolen bases (19). She is also second in batting average (.327). Madisyn Davis tops the pitching staff with a 7-5 record, 3.45 ERA and 54 strikeouts in 71 innings.

The Competition
N.C. Central (11-30) heads to Max R. Joyner Family Stadium having taken two of three from Coppin State at home last weekend.

The N.C. Central Series
East Carolina leads the all-time series with N.C. Central by a 5-0 count. The Pirates defeated the Eagles 13-8 back on April 5th in Cary. NCCU last visited Greenville April 11, 2017 when ECU recorded a 4-0 victory.
