GREENVILLE, N.C. – Fresh off a midweek victory at N.C. Central, East Carolina jumps back into American Athletic Conference play with a three-game series against Houston at Max R. Joyner Family Stadium. Sunday's finale will stream live via ESPN+.

The Pirates pounded out a season-high 18 hits in the 13-8 victory over the Eagles, securing their sixth true road win of the campaign. All five of ECU's pitchers threw at least one inning and combined for a season-best 10 strikeouts.

East Carolina is fifth in the AAC standings with four league series left to contest. The Pirates are slated to host the AAC Softball Championship May 12-14.

Entering the weekend, ECU ranks third among AAC squads in batting average (.279) and fourth in earned run average (3.92). Individually, Faith Jarvis (.362) and Jocelyn Alonso (.350) slot fifth and eighth in the league in batting average while Bailee Wilson leads the conference in doubles (12). In the circle, Madisyn Davis is sixth in ERA (2.78) and opposing batting average (.241).

East Carolina is 10-11 at home this campaign and looks to snap a six-game skid inside the friendly confines.

The Competition
The Cougars (20-16-1) are 4-1-1 in conference play this season, sweeping a home series with Memphis last weekend after going 1-1-1 against Tulsa on the road March 25-27 to open their AAC schedule. Amanda Carden and Becca Schulte pace the offensive efforts with respective .336 and .323 batting averages. Schulte has also hit a team-high 11 home runs and has scored a squad-best 28 runs. In the circle, Hannah Todd sports a 7-5 record and 2.42 ERA with 43 strikeouts and 34 walks in 75.1 innings of work. She picked up all three wins in the Memphis series.

The Houston Series
Houston leads the all-time series with East Carolina by a 42-20 margin while winning eight of the last 10 meetings - including three of four last season. The Pirates are 11-15 against the Cougars in Greenville, dropping two of three encounters the last time they hosted Houston during the 2018 season.
