TAMPA, Fla. –East Carolina is set to begin American Athletic Conference play this weekend when the Pirates travel to Tampa to take on South Florida at USF Softball Stadium, beginning on Friday at 4 p.m. on ESPN+ with Ryan Urquhart and Georgina Corrick on the call.

The Pirates are coming off a midweek victory at UNCW that saw ECU tack seven runs on the Seahawks including six in the sixth inning. Logan Sutton broke the game open with a grand slam and Taudrea Sinnie (3 hits) and Taylor Edwards (2 hits) each had multi-hit performances in the win. Addy Bullis and Jordan Hatch contained the Seahawks' offense, holding UNCW to just four hits and left nine Seahawks on base.

Edwards leads the Pirates at the plate, batting .407 (5th in AAC), is tied for first in the league with five triples (t-3rd in NCAA) this season and has recorded eight games with multiple hits to lead the Pirates. Sinnie is tied for the league lead in stolen bases with 13 and has been successful on every stolen base attempt. Sutton leads the team in home runs with four and Addy Bullis holds a 12-3 mark in the circle with a 1.53 ERA (2nd in AAC) and 64 strikeouts.

Scouting the Bulls
South Florida won its first three games of the South Florida Showdown but dropped its last two games including a 6-1 loss to then-No. 11 Texas. Kathy Garcia-Soto had two walk-off hits for the Bulls over the weekend, including her first career home run against the Longhorns to earn AAC Player of the Week. South Florida features a stingy pitching staff that boasts a 2.73 overall ERA (2nd in AAC), led by Payton Dixon's 1.47 ERA (1st in AAC). The Bulls swept the Pirates in last season's regular season series and defeated ECU in the first round of the AAC Softball Championship.
