WICHITA, Kan. – The East Carolina softball team embarks on a six-game road swing beginning on Friday when the Pirates square off with No. 23 Wichita State inside Wilkins Stadium at 7 p.m. ET. The three-game series will be streamed via ESPN+.

The Pirates are coming off a 10-2 win over N.C. Central in five innings on Wednesday, led by Taylor Edwards' two hits and two runs and Jordan Hatch's six strikeouts.

ECU is paced at the plate by Edwards' batting average of .400 (4th in AAC) and the graduate student is tied for fourth with fellow outfielder Taudrea Sinnie in the AAC with five triples (t14th-in NCAA) this season and has recorded multiple hits in 12 games to lead the Pirates. Sinnie is second in the American in stolen bases with 17 and Logan Sutton leads the team in home runs with six. The Pirates' ace Addy Bullis holds a 13-9 mark in the circle with a 2.75 ERA and 85 strikeouts (3rd in AAC) and is second in the league in innings pitched at 130.0.

The 23rd-ranked Shockers are coming off a thrilling 3-1 victory on the road over No. 3 Oklahoma State in extra innings behind Sami Hood's two RBI home run in the top of the eighth inning to seal the win for Wichita State. Wichita State has won nine of its last 10 contests coming to this weekend matchup with the Pirates. Sydney McKinney leads the Shockers' high-powered offense at the plate with a league-leading .544 batting average (1st in NCAA). Zoe Jones and Addison Barnard have combined to hit 24 of Wichita State's 62 home runs this year and Alex Aguilar is the top arm in the circle with a 1.58 ERA and 48 strikeouts for an 11-2 record.

Wichita State leads the all-time series with East Carolina 11-3 and swept the season series last year, outscoring the Pirates 38-6 over the three games.
