HOUSTON, Texas – The East Carolina softball team is set to go back on the road this week as the Pirates travel to Houston to face the Houston Cougars for a three-game series beginning on Thursday at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

The Pirates are seeking their first conference win of the season and are in the midst of a three-game losing streak after getting swept by UCF this past weekend in which ECU was outscored 21-2 in the three games and only generated nine hits in the series.

Taylor Edwards leads the Pirates at the plate, batting .382 (5th in AAC), is second in the AAC with five triples (t-8th in NCAA) this season and has recorded nine multi-hit games to lead the Pirates. Fellow outfielder Taudrea Sinnie is tied for the league lead in stolen bases with 15 and has been successful on every stolen base attempt. Logan Sutton leads the team in home runs with four and Addy Bullis holds a 13-6 mark in the circle with a 2.28 ERA and 77 strikeouts and leads the AAC in innings pitched with 110.1 (30th in NCAA).

Scouting the Cougars
Houston has won four of its last five after sweeping Memphis this past weekend by an aggregate 21-3 in runs and splitting a doubleheader on Tuesday with Stephen F. Austin. The Cougars are led at the plate by Turiya Coleman with 45 hits and a .429 batting average (2nd in AAC, 24th in NCAA) and in the circle by Kenna Wilkey with a 11-7 record and 2.30 ERA (7th in AAC) and 103 strikeouts (1st in AAC). Houston is third in the AAC in batting average at .286.

Houston leads the series with East Carolina 39-17 since 2005 and has won the last four meetings between the two schools. The last time ECU defeated Houston was on April 17, 2021 on the road with a final score of 11-5.
