Pirates Wrap Up Day One At CSCAA National Invitational Championship

OCALA, Fla. – East Carolina's 400-yard medley relay and 200-yard freestyle teams posted top 16 finishes following day one of the CSCAA National Invitational Championship on Thursday.

The 400-yard medley relay team of Brynna Wolfe, Heidi Bruining, Sara Kalawska and Mikayla Durkin posted a time of 3:45.21 for a 15th place finishing earning 26 points.

ECU's 200-yard freestyle team of Carlie Clements, Durkin, Laura Kellberg and Bruining placed 16th with a time of 1:33.30 for an additional 25 points, giving ECU 51 total points after opening day competition (22nd place in team standings).

Five swimmers competed in preliminary events but did not advance to the finals:

50-Yard Backstroke
Brynna Wolfe – 26.15

50-Yard Freestyle
Carlie Clements – 23.62

200-Yard IM
Heidi Bruining – 2:05.57

500-Yard Freestyle
Sadie Covington – 4:56.12
Emilee Hamblin – 4:57.92

Day two begins Friday at 9:30 am with prelims in the 200-medley relay, 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and 800 freestyle. Finals for each of the events are set to begin at 6 p.m.
