
Pirates Begin 2026-27 Season At TYR Fall Classic On Friday

Doral, Fla. – The East Carolina women's swimming and diving team is set to begin its 2026-27 campaign this weekend when the Pirates will compete in the TYR Fall Classic, hosted by FIU.
The event is scheduled to run from Oct. 2-3 and will take place at the Doral Aquatic Center.
ECU will compete against six other schools in Tulane, FIU, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, St. Thomas and Keiser.
The Pirates return 12 swimmers from last season's team including Carlie Clements, Tanith Mueller and Elena Dinehart. Clements was named the team's Most Outstanding Swimmer last season after setting program records in eight events, capturing 75 points at the American Conference Championship and qualifying for the CSCAA National Invitational. She currently holds the best times in program history in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 backstroke. Mueller put together a strong freshman campaign with 13 event wins, qualifying for the CSCAA National Invitational and setting a program record in the 400 medley relay and a freshman program record in the 100 butterfly.
In the diving well, the team returns three divers in Romina Hernandez, Cecilia Bragantini and Kinsley Baker. Baker was tabbed as the team's Most Improved Diver last year after scoring 32 points and securing five top three finishes during the regular season. Baker recorded 29 points with one B finalist and two C finalist appearances at the American Conference Championship and was an NCAA Zone Qualifier. Hernandez was an NCAA Zone Qualifier as a freshman and secured 13 top-three finishes on the diving boards. Bragantini also had a strong freshman season with 13 top-three finishes and setting the program freshman record in the 1-meter dive. Both Hernandez and Bragantini were also named American Conference Freshman Diver of the Week once respectively.
